The picturesque village of Salir, nestled in the hills of the Loulé municipality, is once again preparing to turn back time with the return of its beloved medieval festival, “Salir no Tempo”, taking place from July 18 to 20, 2025. Over the course of three days, this peaceful Algarvian village transforms into a vibrant medieval town, filled with colour, culture, and history.
Set in the charming historic centre of Salir, the festival brings history to life with medieval-themed streets, costumed performers, traditional artisans, musicians, dancers, storytellers, and much more. The event recreates scenes from Roman and medieval times, offering an immersive experience with interactive performances and historical reenactments throughout the village.
Visitors can explore an authentic medieval setting and witness life as it was lived centuries ago.
The programme features a wide variety of entertainment including ancient music concerts, medieval and oriental dance performances, street theatre, acrobatics, storytelling, and craft workshops. There will also be a traditional market (souk) offering regional products, handcrafted items, food, spices, and other cultural treasures — creating a full sensory experience.
