New RJUE: more transparency, more confidence in the real estate market

The new Legal Regime for Urbanization and Building (RJUE) bring good news for anyone buying or selling a home in Portugal: more clarity and greater security in transactions.

The main change lies in the purchase and sale contract, which must now explicitly state whether the property has an urban planning title, such as a usage license. This does not prevent transactions, but it ensures that all relevant information is clear from the very beginning.

In practice, the contract now reflects a more transparent reality: the title exists and is presented, it exists but is not shown, or it does not exist, always with the awareness of both parties.

This change helps reduce future doubts and strengthens trust between buyer and seller, making the process simpler and clearer.

Ultimately, the market does not become more difficult, it becomes more transparent. And where there is transparency, there are safer decisions for everyone.
