Vilamoura will welcome a new private hospital in the latter half of 2023. The private hospital will be opened by the private health group, Lusíadas Saúde, which represents a €10 million investment.

The private hospital will be located at the well-known “Lusotur Building” which is owned by Vilamoura world. This building will be renovated to accommodate the new private hospital where around €4 million euros will be spent on the new infrastructure of 1,700 m² which will be built from scratch and €6 million will be spent on the purchase of new state-of-the-art equipment.

The new private hospital will not only contribute to the increase in the supply of health care services in Vilamoura and the surrounding areas but will also contribute to the economic and sustainable development of this region of Portugal creating around 250 new jobs in Algarve.

The project was officially launched last week Tuesday at a ceremony attended by the Mayor of Loule, Vitor Aleixo, where a contract was signed between Vilamoura world and Lusíadas Saúde.

As quoted by the CEO of Lusíadas Saúde, Vasco Antunes Pereira, “This investment in a new hospital unit is yet another step in the materialization of our group’s expansion and consolidation project. It is also proof of our commitment to the future of the health sector in Portugal”.

He further added that, “Hospital Lusíadas Vilamoura will reinforce the offer of health care in the most extensive and populous municipality in the Algarve and will make a contribution to the socio-economic development of the region, in a lasting, permanent and sustainable way”.

The CEO of Vilamoura World, João Brion Sanches, stated that, “this is an important step in the strategy that we have defined since the beginning of our mandate and whose mission is to make Vilamoura the best destination in the Algarve to live, spend holidays and invest”.

He further stated that “access to the best health care is essential for residents of Vilamoura and for all people who choose Vilamoura for their holidays. We are sure that this hospital will have a very positive impact on Vilamoura, complementing the services in the health area in a very professional way and providing Vilamoura with yet another infrastructure that makes it a unique destination in the Algarve and in the country”.

The private hospital will be led by Pedro Oliveira, CEO of the Lusíadas Algarve group. Furthermore, Hospital Lusíadas Vilamoura will be “the first hospital in the south of Portugal dedicated exclusively to outpatient surgery”.

In terms of capacity, the private hospital will include more than 20 consultation offices, operating and minor surgery rooms, treatment and examination rooms, permanent care, a Gastroenterology unit, and an Imaging area, equipped with specialized and cutting-edge technological equipment, such as magnetic resonance imaging, computed tomography (CAT), X-ray, mammography, ultrasound, among others.
