The region won the title of Europe’s Leading Beach Destination, while several Algarve hotels, resorts and tourist attractions received awards in European and national categories.

The Algarve received awards in several European World Travel Awards categories, covering beach tourism, hospitality, tourist residences, sports resorts and entertainment.

These awards demonstrate the diversity of the Algarve’s tourism offering. The World Travel Awards prize was awarded to the Algarve as a beach destination, not to a specific beach. Nevertheless, two beaches in the region achieved prominent positions in a separate international ranking.
In Condé Nast Traveller magazine’s Readers’ Choice Awards 2026, Praia da Falésia, in Albufeira, ranked fourth among the best beaches in Europe, scoring 94.70 points. Praia de Benagil, in Lagoa, ranked 16th, with 81.67 points.
The ranking was published on 6 October 2026 and is based on ratings from the magazine’s UK readers. It is a distinction separate from the World Travel Awards and uses its own methodology. The results are available in the 2026 ranking of the best beaches in Europe.
